A Marvel Studios executive is offering his opinion on the rumors swirling around "Avengers: Secret Wars" regarding Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans potentially making a comeback.
Many people have speculated that the performers may make brief appearances in the Multiverse saga years after they said their final goodbyes as the beloved superheroes in "Avengers: Endgame." Along with the fans supporting them, other MCU actors like Jonathan Majors have voiced a desire for RDJ to reprise his role as Iron Man and face Kang in "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty."
According to the most recent rumors, Marvel Studios Executive Stephen Broussard made a suggestion that RDJ's return might no longer be planned. Just Jared quoted Stephen as explaining the potential reasons the actor and the character might not make a comeback "If you consider things like Kate Bishop in Hawkeye getting a suit and Cassie Lang in Quantumania getting a suit, as well as the introduction of new characters like Jack in Werewolf by Night. Torches are being transferred after the first ten years of Marvel storytelling, as evidenced by the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is no longer [on the] table and other similar things. Thus, it was somewhat akin to a new generation taking the lead, which has always occurred in comic books."
As previously stated by Broussard, Phase 4 of the MCU is focused on introducing new characters and using upcoming movies to convey their stories.
"What will they do with that now that those players are on the board and a big bad is approaching [in the shape of Kang the Conqueror]? What will they do with this ability? Because, as you are aware, you may have heard. With Great power …[comes great responsibility.]"
Actor Anthony Mackie, who took up the mantle of "Captain America," opened up about the possibility of him playing a key part in the new generation of Avengers while discussing the MCU's future.
According to Anthony, Sam is the only character without abilities in the series.
He continued by saying that, in contrast to other superpowered heroes, his character was "just a normal dude."
